Bailey Lecture Series Features Bishop Spong

All Saints' Bailey Lecture Series in Austin, an annual presentation by a noted spiritual thinker, continues this year with the Right Rev. John Shelby Spong, a biblical and morality scholar well known for his unorthodox theology.

The Rt. Rev. Spong's first appearance will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, in Gregg Hall at All Saints, followed by a wine and cheese reception. At 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, he will be at Gregg Hall for coffee and pastries, and will also speak in two later sessions at times to be announced. He will preach sermons at All Saints at 9:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 24, in the sanctuary at All Saints, and will host a question-and-answer session in Gregg Hall at 10:30. All events are free, but space is limited.

Bishop Spong is an acclaimed thinker and theologian whose vision of inclusiveness has distinctly shaped Church thought. His books have sold over a million copies, and he has been a guest on Good Morning, America, Fox News, and Larry King Live. He was the bishop of Newark, NJ, for twenty-four years until his retirement in 2011.
