St. Mark's, Beaumont Hosts Chili Supper & Bazaar for Charity

Regardless of the weather, it’s always “CHILI” in downtown Beaumont on the first Thursday in November. That’s because the women of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 680 Calder at Pearl Street, host an annual Chili Supper & Bazaar.

Year round St. Mark’s serves Christ and the community but on November 7, they add chili to the offing.

Come for this all you-can-eat chili day at lunch, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., and supper from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Get your rice and chili and then fix it up just the way you like it with a variety of toppings – cheese, onions, jalapenos and even beans. Each meal also includes cole slaw, crackers or Fritos and a drink.

Dine inside or out at lunch (weather permitting) and inside at supper in St. Mark’s spacious upstairs Payne Hall, which is elevator accessible. Or take out at both meal times.

Between chili eating, shop the arts and crafts booths in St. Mark’s Gilbert Building at the Bazaar. More than 30 vendors ranging from home décor to jewelry, clothes to baskets to wood carvings will be available for early holiday gift buying. Each vendor will donate a gift to the silent auction, which also includes other great items like a fishing trip in Hackberry, Louisiana, a sailboat trip, a margarita party and a teen party.

Sweeten your chili palette with a dessert at St. Mark’s Incredible Edibles, a booth of scrumptious homemade delicacies – breads, pies, cookies, cakes, brownies, bars and more– all individually wrapped.

All of the proceeds from St. Mark’s Chili Supper & Bazaar are donated back to the community in the form of grants. Monies from last year’s Chili Supper & Bazaar and St. Mark’s Treasure House resale store, resulted in $27,000 in donations. (See attached donation list.)

Individual tickets for chili are $10 for adults; $5 for children. Frozen chili is available while supplies last for $12 a quart and $6 a pint and can be purchased from the church office Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
