The Woodlands Fine Art Series Connects Faith Through Beauty

The arts can connect people to their faith through an encounter with beauty, and the Fine Arts Series at Trinity Episcopal Church provides a variety of musical and other events to experience the divine. The series is underway, with all events taking place at 3901 South Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands.

The series began in September with The Texas Brass Ensemble. Under the direction of Darryl Bayer, the band performed their Time Travel program of selections spanning five centuries of music. Next in the series, the 2nd Annual Trinity Art Show was held September 27-29. The event opened with a wine and cheese reception on Friday evening. Through the weekend, artists from Trinity and surrounding areas displayed more than 100 personal creations in a range of media from oils and watercolors to 3-D art.

A highlight of the season is Home Again: Christmas with CANTARE Houston, featuring CANTARE’s trademark kaleidoscopic blend of styles in a seamless concert of music designed to bring you home for the holidays. CANTARE Houston is a professional consort of singers led by Artistic Director Kevin Riehle. The event at Trinity is scheduled for Friday, December 20, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for students, and are available online at cantarehouston.org.

February 8 will bring the NorthFest Handbell Festival to Trinity. Several area handbell choirs will come together for a day of rehearsal and wrap it up with a closing service at 3 p.m., which is free and open to the public.

In another fantastic event, Seven Last Words will be presented by Micki Balog and Alyssa Stebbing, Music Ministry leaders of Trinity, The Woodlands. This will be a contemplative concert with music focusing on the seven last words of Christ. Join Trinity on Sunday, March 30 at 3 p.m.

The Wayne Kerr Band will appear in April, and in May, the Trinity Episcopal Church Choir will present Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass with special guest soloists.

The series will conclude with a Fine Arts Camp for children the end of June. Watch the website www.trinitywoodlands.org or call the church office at 281.367.8113 for further details.
