Safeguarding Guidelines and Resources
Like the rest of Diocesan staff, the Wellness and Care Team members are following Bishop Doyle’s directions to work from home to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Fortunately, we are well equipped by the Diocese to work remotely and are fully available by email or telephone to provide guidance or encouragement.
We are committed to reducing any anxiety related to Safeguarding in this time of shifting protocols and logistical challenges. No one should feel pressured to hold or attend in-person trainings through the end of March and perhaps for longer, depending on the guidance of health officials and the Bishop. At the same time, we know that your communities may be anxious to prepare people for the ministries that will resume in the months to come. By week’s end, we will communicate again with dates of Virtual Training options in Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People. These trainings will be open to anyone with access to a laptop or computer with a camera and the Internet.
Separate emails will be going out to people who are currently signed up for Diocesan trainer-led trainings that were scheduled for the next few weeks. If you receive questions about those trainings from your people, please refer them to the Safeguarding Office.
We ask for your prayers and hold you in ours as we discover new ways to serve each other and our neighbors. Thank you for continuing to work for the protection of the most vulnerable in our community. A friend of mine with an autoimmune disease said to me yesterday that she feels the love of the Diocese and the greater society in their efforts to “flatten the curve” for the sake of people like her.
In God’s mercy,
Lisa
